Gluten-Free Meat Balls in Tomato Sauce

Ingredients

- 250 grams minced meat (preferably beef)
- 1 medium onion
- 1 clove of garlic
- 1 tbsp chopped parsley
- 1 egg

- 1/2 tsp salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
- 2 tbsp. vegetable oil (I use canola oil)

Method
  1. Put the onion and garlic in the food processor and grind until they become a paste.
  2. Add to them the meat, parsley, gluten-free bread crumbs, egg, salt, and pepper. Pulse the machine until all ingredients are well mixed.
  3. Put the meat mixture in the fridge for half an hour.
  4. Take out from the fridge and form the meat into medium-size balls.
  5. Put the oil in a deep pan and cook the meatballs in the oil on all sides until golden brown.
  6. Add 1 cup of our gluten-free home-made tomato sauce to the meatballs with around 1/4 cup of hot water. Let it simmer for 6-7 minutes until the sauce is almost dry and the meatballs are done.

Tip: You can use the meatballs with tomato sauce on top of cooked gluten-free spaghetti or any other type of gluten-free pasta, or use it to fill a gluten-free baguette “Subway” style. Top it with grated cheese (if you can eat dairy products) and toast it in a preheated oven.

Yields: 16 medium meatballs
