It is a
holiday classic to have turkey with cranberry sauce. Maybe not in our Arabic
culture, but since we brought so many traditions from the Western World, we
like to practice them on daily basis and especially during the holidays. This
recipe is one of them. Cranberries
are a very good source of vitamin C, manganese, vitamin K and vitamin E. They carry
anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant and anti-cancer health benefits!
Ingredients
- 2 ½ cups
dried cranberries
- 1 orange,
zest and juice
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp
cinnamon
- ¼ tsp
ginger powder
- 2 sprigs of
thyme
- 2 ½ cups
water
Method
- Put all the ingredients in a saucepan over the heat.
- Bring to a boil while stirring all the time.
- Lower the heat and cover the saucepan.
- Let the sauce simmer for around 30 minutes while stirring every few minutes.
- When the cranberries are done, use a handheld blender and whizz the sauce for few seconds (Keep it chunky).
- Serve the cranberry sauce with our Honey-Glazed Roasted Turkey Breast and our Brussel Sprouts with Crispy Bacon in Balsamic Glaze for Christmas dinner.
